We are interested in starting an active group of volunteers to serve in several programs:
ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Services)
RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service)
SkyWarn (national Weather Service)
Rick, N5XNF has now been appointed by Luna Conty, as the RACES coordinator, and has been appointed through ARRL for the ARES Ccoordinator.
RACES provides communications support directly to governement agencies. This may include operating in an OEM command post. RACES is by appointment. If you are interested, contact N5XNF. Applications are now being processed.
ARES provides communications support to local organizations. This may include the Red Cross, or any other organization. There is an official ARRL applicaion to fill out.
N5XNF would like to compile a database of willing volunteers to serve in these programs.
